What is the difference between a spinning reel and a baitcast reel?
I mean, i know how they work and stuff, but ive been considering getting a baitcast reel n rod for quite some time now. but i know a few people who say they are hard to use. i dont know if i want to get one. what do you guys think about baitcast reels? anything tricky to them?
Spinning reels are very very easy to use. They don’t do good with short accurate casts but they can cast far distances and against the wind with small lures. With the bait casting reel, it handles larger lures well and is very very good at short accurate casts. I use bait casting reels for Texas rigged plastics, jigs, heavy spinner baits, top waters, and deep diving crank baits. Other things are normally with a spinning reel. Yes, they are hard to master but if you want to watch some “How to use a bait casting reel” videos on You Tube.
